Violet Times presents: Foggy Notion art exhibition - June 10th-26th @ Live With Animals

Hey!

You might have heard the (teenage) news by now but in case ya haven't, a certain baby animal wants to turn you on, baby. What can a one man 'fan label' do for ya w/ no dough these days? Well, if you're me (and i am) it means you'd hatch a crazed plan to showcase some of my fave musicians and their visual side/s to the unsuspecting public. Who knew? Who cares, let's have some fun and do like The Godz said, and 'Turn On'...

This is the 'official' word, bird:
Violet Times wants to turn you on.

Over the years of listening to my records I began to take an even greater appreciation of some of my favorite bands’ record covers. These outrageous sounds were often housed in sleeves adorned w/ equally compelling artwork, almost always done by a band member who had also made the music I was hearing.

One day whilst cruising thru a mini ‘landmark’ tour of sorts in my former South Brooklyn hood w/ one of the prime movers in Cle-punk history, a little black egg dropped out of the earhole of my skull and the idea for this visual spectacle was subsequently hatched.

Each of the Foggy Notion artists have been creating music and art for quite some time- a few have been recording & performing since as far back as the very early 70's. In some ways they are all fairly well known in the under-the-counter culture world of music & out sounds but they've all been simultaneously creating visual art throughout the years in far more obscurity. Violet Times thinks it would be great to shine a light on another aspect of what these individuals do that is most likely less known to the mass ear and eye.

This is not at all to imply that I want to have this be some kind of record cover art showcase- I’ve never wanted that at all and that’s not what one should expect when attending the exhibit. The Foggy Notion art exhibition is about their other visually artastic activities. The music as released and sleeved is only the gateway into these other endeavors. Mine, and now yours…

There will also be musical performances thoughout the month featuring the participating artists. This part will be great for the blind, if nothing else. I'm super excited-and i barely even need corrective lenses!

Come out and say 'hi'.

Here's the lineup, also got a few GREAT DJ's to spin wreckords at these as well.

The Whines tour, playing NYC shows w/ The Mad Scene, Home Blitz, White Mystery, Nobunny, Timmy's Organism, Mick Collins + bbq

Hey! My buds The Whines are on tour from Portland, OR and I booked a couple of shows for the band while the party lands here in NYC for three dates this coming weekend. Come say hello and eat some hot dogs, unless of course a certain spirit known as The Haze has a problem w/ you, in which case i'd watch your neck. I know, he's gone, but a ghost w/ an axe? Even scarier, so please be careful on your way to these shows. Longhairs welcome.
